WECC Selects Equinox Software's Control Room Operations Window (CROW)
Vancouver, B.C. - June 2, 2008
Equinox Software Design Corporation is pleased to announce that its Control Room Operations Window (CROW) software has been selected by North America's Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) for their Reliability Coordinator Center's Outage Coordination Interface and RC Operators Logging Tool.
WECC is responsible for promoting a reliable electric power system in the Western Interconnection. They support efficient competitive power markets, assure open and non-discriminatory transmission access among members, provide a forum for resolving transmission access disputes and provide an environment for coordinating the operating and planning activities of its member States and Provinces that span some 1.8 million miles from Southern California to Alberta, Canada.
Equinox's CROW software will provide WECC with improved coordination and management of forced and planned electric system outages using a system that has proven it can stand up to the demands of utility operations and Control Centers that run 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
"We decided on Equinox due to the excellent support and focus on our industry they have demonstrated and the work they had collaborated on with the Northwest Power Pool for outage integration," said Eric Whitley - Manager WECC EMS Systems.
